| Saffron Technique
Oriental
Designed by Saphira after teaching hundreds of beginner through
professional students for over 10 years, Saffron Oriental presents Egyptian
Classical and Folk inspired Raqs Sharqi ("belly dance"). The teaching
approach includes how to break down and explain each movement in a clear and
accessible way. Each week students will build skill and knowledge to create
movement from specific muscles, learn how that movement corresponds to
oriental music and rhythms, and experience hands-on corrections to challenge
and accelerate their progress.
Because the Saffron Dance approach to teaching belly dance reflects that
each student has different movement experience, technique and combinations
classes are presented to challenge each student irrespective of a person's
dance and movement background. Beyond teaching bellydance technique and
dynamic musical interpretation, Saffron Oriental also teaches students how
to identify their unique voice and personal expression that is
characteristic of this ancient and beautiful dance.
Tribal
Designed by Asharah and Jennifer Hodge,
Saffron Tribal integrates the
technique of both Suhaila Salimpour's and American Tribal Style belly dance
creator, Carolena Nericcio's, formats into a unified tribal style belly
dance program. Tribal style belly dance is known for its emphasis on
confidence, community, and artistic expression. Saffron Tribal technique
focuses on these key elements as well as proper body alignment and an
understanding of the muscles driving each movement to ensure healthy dancing
for years to come. Students begin by learning the fundamentals of belly
dance movement, emphasizing tribal belly dance movement, before moving on to
learn the group improvisational American Tribal Style and/or the modern
tribal fusion style. Saffron Tribal also emphasizes the history of tribal
style belly dance and its place within the larger belly dance community. |
