Katrina - Instructor

I am so fortunate and thankful to have found my passion, Oriental dance and classic Egyptian music, and to be able to grow and share it with others. At Saffron, I am most proud of the focus on authentic Egyptian movement vocabulary, nurturing students as they grow into technically competent dancers and find their own voice, and having such a supportive dance community. I am consistently impressed by the dedication, talent, humor, kindness and joy that each student and faculty member at Saffron shares with each other…and remain honored and humbled to dance with them all.

Katrina is a passionate, elegant and energetic Raqs Sharqi (belly dance or oriental dance) performer, instructor, and choreographer in the Washington, DC area. As a Middle Eastern dance artist, Katrina is known for her expressive and rich Egyptian dance style that is filled with impressive shimmies, lyrical veil work, spice, and energy. Katrina is particularly drawn to this artistic movement form because of classical Egyptian music and the graceful and powerful movements it inspires, as well as the joy it brings to everyone it touches. She has had the honor of performing in Egypt and has studied with master instructors from across the world, including: Mahmoud Reda, Farida Fahmy, Yousry Sharif, Nevein Ramez, Mohamed El Housseny, Faten Salama, Virginia, and Saphira.
